This is great. One of my favorite and weirdest records is an old Folkways recording called "Sounds of the American Southwest." I used to like to play it very loudly, and watch my cat chase things that weren't there.
It has various bird sounds as well as a mountain lion, bullfrogs, thunderstorms from different seasons and a host of other natural sounds.
oh that sounds super cool, i've never seen that folkways record, but will definitely keep eyes peeled at the flea. i've got a ton of bird ones, but this one i picked up last week and a 78 set in red vinyl is just glorious! funny two weeks ago i picked up an 80's set put out by national geographic on 10" flexi discs, i haven't tried em out, but i'll wager they sound worse than the 78s...the only music that has made our dog go nuts has been my own...:-)
That looks so sweet... any chance of a longer shot of the whole album? I recently dropped about 700-800 78s at the local charity store. They are just too heavy to move :(
What a gorgeous set...and colored vinyl, too! Lucky you...
dave.... you are killing me!!!!!! 700 78's left at the thrift shop... where do you live?.... i need to sift through those....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! now that is torture... the whole cover is just more wood, the red bird logo and text is pretty small. i'll get a photo and add it to flickr at some point.
